If you’ve been receiving this publication in your mail for a while, you might notice some changes in this edition. And we think you’ll like them.

This month marks my first as editor of Clear Lake Connection. I’ve taken over the position after former editor, Shannon Daughtry, left to work for Clear Creek Independent School District.

I grew up in Space City and have covered business and development my entire career. There’s no place like the Clear Lake area, which is home to some of the best and brightest people, boating and, of course, NASA.

So, what you’ll notice in the coming issues is more coverage of the things that make Clear Lake what it is. You’ll see more coverage of NASA and businesses that support it and more about the interesting and vibrant people who make the area such a desirable place to live.

In this issue, you’ll find stories about Boeing, which marks 100 years and which employs so many people in these parts, along with a report about several members of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Texas delegation forming a caucus aimed at sustaining NASA funding.

You’ll also find in this issue a localized version of Biz Buzz, which runs weekly in The Galveston County Daily News, but will be customized for readers of this publication.

I welcome all feedback and story suggestions and would like to know what you want to see in your Connection. Let me know at laura.elder@galvnews.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.
